Parasyte or Kiseijuu (Japanese: 寄生獣) is another manga of Iwaaki Hitoshi, a horror manga published since 1990. It got anime and live action movie adaptions in 2014.

Story Edit

A type of creature, the parasites or kiseijuu, descend onto earth to take control of a number of humans by invading them and taking over their brains. One of these parasytes, Migi (ミギー), ends up in the house of the main character, high school student Shinichi Izumi (泉新一 Izumi Shin'ichi). However, due to Shinichi wearing earphones, Migi fails to penetrate his brain and consequently ends up in the boy's right arm. The two then have to co-exist and work together because their survival from then on depends on each other.

Manga Edit

The manga series ran from 1990 to 1995 and counts ten volumes with a six or seven chapters each, totalling 64 chapters over the span of the entire series.

Anime Edit

The television anime series was released under the title Kiseijū: Sei no Kakuritsu or Parasyte -the maxim- and aired since October 2014 in Japan and October 2015 in the United States.

Movies Edit

Parasyte was adapted into two movies. The first movie, Parasyte: Part 1, was released in November 2014 in Japan. The second and final movie, Parasyte: The Final Chapter, was released in April 2015.
